Right to work checks

Government legislation dictates that it is our responsibility as an employer to ensure that all of our employees (whether internal or our contractors) can prove that they have a right to work in the UK, regardless of their nationality.

The penalties for employers who do not follow the ID and Right To Work checking requirements and employ someone who does not have valid working rights are unlimited and could even lead to a prison sentence.

In an increasingly digital world, thousands of businesses are still using manual processes to process the necessary checks and this can easily lead to errors –  https://www.gov.uk/check-job-applicant-right-to-work

Collecting copies of peoples’ passports, birth certificates or work permits and visas takes time and resources and is open to abuse, especially if hiring volumes are high.

Kanopi have therefore taken the decision to partner with Credas, one of the UK’s leading Government certified digital Identity Service Providers (IDSPs) to automate the ID and Right To Work checking process for all of our contractors.

Credas uses an advanced ID and document checking app that takes moments to install on a smartphone or tablet.  The app then uses biometric facial ID software to verify that the person providing the ID document is who they say they are.  If anyone does not pass the checks or comes back with a query, we can provide their recruitment agency with a report so that they can investigate further.

With regulation of the umbrella industry fast approaching, ensuring that your supply chain is fully compliant with ALL legislation is more important than ever so give us a call on 01524 952777 or visit www.kanopi-cs.co.uk to find out more about how we can help you.
